Many Parts, One Body (“Many Parts, One Body,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 99-4038958) based in Eastern Jackson County, Missouri, serving the greater Kansas City metro area. We care about the privacy of the people who visit our website and who support our mission. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We have written this policy in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, please reach out through our contact form and we will do our best to explain.
The short version
- We only collect the information you choose to give us — for example, your email address when you sign up for updates, or the contact and delivery details you provide when you contact us, inquire about sponsorship, or ask us for help. A request for grocery assistance asks for more sensitive details — such as your delivery address, who is in your household, any food allergies or dietary needs, and a short description of your situation — which we use only to coordinate and deliver the help you ask for, keep in our secure team-only system, and never publish.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. Ever.
- We do not run advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising or marketing trackers on this site.
- We use privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics that do not identify you.
- Donations are handled entirely by our donation partner (Givebutter). We never see or store your payment card details.
- You can ask us what information we have about you, or ask us to delete it, at any time.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. When you use a form on our site, we collect the information you enter. Depending on the form, this may include:
- Your email address (for example, when you sign up to receive updates).
- Your name, email address, phone number, and the message or details you provide — for example, when you use our contact form or submit a sponsorship inquiry.
- When you request grocery assistance, the information we need to review and deliver that help: your delivery address, your household size, any food allergies or dietary needs you tell us about, which category best describes your need (for example, medical bills or general financial hardship), your preferred way to be contacted, and anything else you choose to share. Because this can include health-related and financial-hardship information about you and your household, we treat it as sensitive — it is stored in our secure, access-controlled system, is visible only to authorized members of our team, and is never included in notification emails or shown publicly.
We only ask for what we need to respond to you or to send you the updates you requested.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, when you visit our site our hosting and security providers may automatically process limited technical information — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit — for the purpose of delivering the site, keeping it secure, and protecting our forms from spam and abuse. We also record limited technical details (which can include an IP address and a timestamp) together with form submissions to help us prevent spam and misuse.
Analytics. We use two privacy-first analytics services to understand, in aggregate, how our site is used (for example, which pages are visited): Cloudflare Web Analytics, and LiveDash, a privacy-first analytics and uptime monitoring service operated by 2K Web Developments, the volunteer developer who built and maintains this site. Neither service uses cookies, tracks you across other websites, or builds a profile of you. LiveDash records page views and anonymous interactions (such as clicking a phone number or submitting a form), and explicitly does not store IP addresses, browser fingerprints, cookies, or user identifiers.
Cookies. Our public website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookie we use is a secure session cookie that is set only if an authorized administrator logs into our private management dashboard — it is never set for ordinary visitors browsing the site.
Donations. When you make a donation, that process is handled by our third-party donation platform, Givebutter, through a form embedded on or linked from our site. Your payment information (such as card details) is collected and processed by Givebutter under their privacy policy — we do not receive or store your payment card numbers. We encourage you to review Givebutter’s privacy policy to understand how they handle your information.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect only to:
- Send you the updates, newsletters, or information you asked to receive.
- Respond to your messages, questions, requests for help, or sponsorship inquiries.
- Coordinate and provide the help you request — for example, preparing and delivering groceries to the address you give us, taking your household size and any dietary needs into account.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve our website.
- Protect our site and forms against spam, fraud, and abuse.
- Keep records appropriate to running a nonprofit organization and complying with the law.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We share information only in these limited situations:
- Service providers who help us run the site. We use trusted third-party providers to operate our website and communicate with you. These currently include:
- Cloudflare — website hosting, security, data storage, spam protection (Turnstile), and privacy-first analytics.
- Resend — to send email (such as messages related to our management dashboard and notifications).
- Givebutter — to process donations (as described above).
- 2K Web Developments (LiveDash) — privacy-first analytics and uptime monitoring, so we know if the site goes down.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, protect the safety of any person, or investigate potential wrongdoing.
We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
The details of a grocery-assistance request are stored in our secured database (hosted by Cloudflare, above) and accessed only by our own team; they are not included in the notification emails we send ourselves, and we do not share them with any outside organization.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy — for example, we keep your email subscription until you ask us to remove it, and we keep messages you send us long enough to respond and maintain reasonable records. Short-lived security items (such as one-time login codes and login sessions for administrators) expire automatically. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. For grocery-assistance requests specifically, we keep your request only as long as needed to coordinate and provide that help; once it has been fulfilled or is no longer needed, we delete it. You can ask us to delete your request at any time.
Your choices and rights
You are always in control of your information:
- Unsubscribe. You can stop receiving our email updates at any time — reply to any email asking to be removed, or contact us through the contact form.
- Access. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you.
- Correction. You can ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you.
To make any of these requests, contact us through our contact form. We will respond within a reasonable time. We will not treat you differently or deny you services for exercising these choices.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state or country’s privacy laws. Many comprehensive U.S. state privacy laws (such as California’s) contain broad exemptions for nonprofit organizations, and we may not be legally required to respond to every category of request — but as a matter of respect for the people who support us, we aim to honor reasonable access, correction, and deletion requests regardless.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us personal information through this site, please contact us through the contact form and we will delete it.
(Separately, Many Parts, One Body works with young people through our in-person programs and community service. Any collection of information about minors in the course of those programs is handled directly and in person with the involvement of parents or guardians, and is not part of this website.)
How we protect your information
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect, including using reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS), spam and abuse protection on our forms, and limiting access to information to authorized volunteers who need it. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other websites
Our site may link to other websites — for example, our sponsors’ websites, our donation platform, or our social media pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if our practices or the services we use change. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Significant changes will be reflected here.
